We’re thrilled to bring you our final guest midi from this round, from constructor Mat Holmes! We loved this classic and clean midi. Mat says:
I had been sitting on this apt pair for a while wondering what I could do with it when I saw the call for submissions to Crossword Curiosities. I really love what Hannah and Maddie are doing here and couldn’t be more pleased to be a midi-sized part of it. I am psyched to get a lot of things that I love into the clues of the puzzle, many of which would be cut by mainstream venues for a broader audience.
We’re excited to publish our second guest midi this month, from Faren Roth. Her clever puzzle immediately made us laugh, so we are excited to bring it to you. You can learn more about her on the “Featured Constructors” section of the “About Us” page. Faren says:
“Thanks Maddie and Hannah for featuring my puzzle on Crossword Curiosities! I’m actually quite squeamish (I look away whenever there’s blood…), so this puzzle is a bit out of character for me. But when I thought of the revealer and a funny title to go with it, I knew I had to make it! I loved getting to reference some things I enjoy in my clues, especially Big Bang Theory, “A Series of Unfortunate Events”, and Heated Rivalry (can you spot it?). Hope you enjoy!“
We’re absolutely thrilled to have our first guest midi this month, from Zachary Edward-Brown. His midi perfectly captures the spirit of Crossword Curiosities – a little morbid, a little niche. You can learn more about him on the “Featured Constructors” section of the “About Us” page. Zachary says:
Super excited to be here, many thanks to Maddie and Hannah! I’m a pretty big sports guy, so mixing the morbid vibes of the puzzle with sports felt like the way to go, and I was able to sneak several more sports references in the clues, which I’m quite happy about. Hope everyone enjoys 🙂
Happy spring! We’re switching it up this month with a physics-themed puzzle from Hannah. Stay tuned for our first guest midi later this month!
This puzzle leans into the “offbeat” side of Crossword Curiosities. I’m a particle physicist, and I thought it would be fun to combine my interests in crosswords and physics in this esoteric puzzle!

This midi is from Hannah:
I had a lot of fun fitting interesting long down entries in this puzzle. I also had a lot of fun with the cluing – I hope you enjoy!
Thanks to everyone who submitted midi puzzles during our open submission period! Expect a guest puzzle for May’s Mid-Month Midi!
We hope you enjoy this themeless puzzle from Maddie:
This is my first ever themeless puzzle, so I sincerely hope you enjoy. If you are curious about the title and its connection to the puzzle, I leave you with this. I also enjoyed browsing here for inspiration.
And a big thanks to everyone who submitted midi puzzles during our open submission period. We will be getting back to you soon!
Happy (or unhappy) Ides of March! Enjoy this thematic puzzle from Hannah:
When I realized our midi schedule coincided with the Ides of March, I knew I had to make this puzzle. I was really into Shakespeare as a teenager. I hope this theme amuses at least one other person besides me!
Also, we are taking submissions for midi puzzles through the month of March! Please see this post for more details. We’re very excited to see your ideas!
